Some podcast projects are simply productions.

Others become creative opportunities that push you to another level.

I’ve just completed Season 2 of What Happens Next with Steve Morris — four powerful episodes featuring fascinating conversations with extraordinary people, including Sally Pearson and Rory Underwood, and my fav, the pop duo from the late 70’s Leslie and Benny from PROMISES (remember the one hit smash hit ‘Baby it’s you’?!).

As the writer and producer, I’ve had the privilege of shaping the series from the initial concept and storytelling through to the finished production.

But it’s the sound design of this season that I’m particularly proud of.

Rather than simply recording an interview, cleaning it up and putting music underneath it, the aim was to create a sonic world around Steve’s conversations — using music, atmosphere, sound effects, transitions and carefully crafted audio moments to give each story its own identity.

The result is a podcast that hopefully feels less like an interview and more like a produced audio experience.

After more than 30 years working across radio, commercial audio and podcast production, these are the projects that continue to excite me — where storytelling, technology and sound design come together to create something genuinely different.

A huge thank you to Steve Morris for trusting me with the creative direction and production of What Happens Next.

🎧 Season 2 is now live.

And if you’re a business, broadcaster or content creator looking to take your podcast beyond the basic interview format, I’d love to talk.

Great stories deserve great sound.
